this is what i think has to happen..... all you soft little oxygen stealers have to face it that some force players dont like playing for losing clubs. teams like cott neds soaks and uni get the players cause they are winners! but instead of waiting around crying your salty tears and blaming this and that and bagging out people how about we changed the focus..........instead of wanting more force players how about you just trust the local players, recruit a bit harder and show that you dont need force players because the local ones are just as good and more commited to the club

And you don't see the paradox, Anon, that they don't want to play for losing sides, yet they stick with the Force?

Sorry, joining late, but how about this:

A Public 'Draw' Where EWF players are allocated to a club, 37 EWF players = 3.7 players per club, in reality that means some clubs will get three, some will get 4, this is the luck of the draw.

A Competition is established in the Sanctums of RugbyWA where the EWF players associated with the club that win the Minor Prems and/or the Major Prem get a prize (whatever floats their boat, extra money for helping the comunity more, book token, whatever) The fact that these guys are professional sportsman means they are competitive. And the fact that they have 4/3 per club means they can make a difference.

Outcome will be, players will help out with the club when they are available (even Rocky), they may not train (They have been training all week), but they may assist in training, they may assist in tactics, and when they go on tour to SA & NZ, then it's an even removal of players from the comp (and a chance for the ones that are left to get an edge on their team mates).

Anything's possible, has anyone taking it up with the players, I.e. a session of, what would it take for you to help out at a local Perth Club?

Nothing new here. This typifies the western suburbs club's views. At least you had the balls to put it in writing but it really crystalizes what the rest of us know is the attitude that permeates through the streets of Nedlands, Cott, Swanbourne and into the corridors of Mt Claremont HQ.

How about a draft? Clubs can choose whether to pick bigger name players who might draw more players/crowds but are less likely to actually play, or fringe players who are more likely to contribute on the field.

What are these players doing this weekend? You would think there would be about 20 of them playing premier rugby this weekend to get match fitness before next week. Or are they all playing in Sydney?

No one from the squad has played since the 9th june and after the brumbies match on the 13 july they then have another week off before playing club rugby whether that's here or Sydney remains to be seen and the force boys I've spoken too aren't impressed about it either

Wests Scarborough 1st Grade juggernaut has played finals rugby each and every year since its inception and continues this remarkable feat yet again this season and unbelievably it's still rolling on and as an added little circle jerk for the masses Wests actually hold the record for the current longest unbroken finals record.

How about an old fashioned sales pitch. You have 37 available players with only 4 permitted to be registered with each club, so... why doesn't each club put together their own sales pitch, call a prospective EWF player and tell them all about their club, who the committee is, a bit about the club's history, invite them down and give them a feed and introduce them to the coach and club captain, tell them you'd like them to consider your club home and that you'd like them to play for you.

    Been there, done that.

And the next part of the story is that the player (s) then play your club off against another to see what they can extract from them in terms of dollars, rent payments etc.

Then the bitterness with Force players continues to fester...

They just won't turn up without payment and that's a fact. At Rocky a few years ago they wanted dollars to turn up to a sausage sizzle for the juniors!

None of them want to travel too far from Rugby HQ and where they live which is usually around the western beaches. As a result, clubs in the outer suburbs have next to no chance of having them participate in normal club life as we know it.

There may be a few good guys amongst them but other than Sharpey I can't think of any.

most of the Force players live in,or close to,the Western suburbs--which would make it more difficult for the outer suburban clubs to attract them

Oh it would have been so different if Rugby HQ had been set up south of the river....
