"...acknowledge that you deserve better results from your team onfield.
The team's performance in recent years ..."
I know shit rolls down hill, but what a fucking cop out!
Whatever way you look at it, the teams performance lays squarely at the the feet of the coaches, selectors, and management. The 'team' didn't select themselves, and if they actually did after RG left.... wtf?
In this time of organisational change, it's sad to see this shite. You should have started the letter more simply with:
"...acknowledge that you deserve better results from us.
Our performance in recent years ..."
Sure, cut those that are not performing, but bear in mind that they didn't select themselves - talking up about dropping 11 backline players? The board blaming the organisations performance on the players they ultimately chose is piss weak.
Acknowledge it, cop it, fix it ...

Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
I didn't read it that way Coach. I read it that they were linking the lack of onfield results to the back room set up, not to the players' performances (apart from those 11 backs I guess!)
I agree that the "you deserve better" mea culpa is a bit cloying, but I genuinely think they are trying to respond to, and fix, the things that we fans have been hounding them about!
I can see what they were trying to get at, but felt they stopped short.
Their actions in recent times have spoken more [to me] than that letter drop did, so it's not all bad - but having gone to the trouble of putting it in writing and sending it to me, I would have liked to have felt at the end of reading it that there were no excuses left.
To me it seems they've laid the blame on players and coaching staff, but have made no mention of the board. Is it just convenient that RG is off to the Reds so he can be implicitly blamed without actually stating anything? What would the letter have said if he was still here?
We all know that Vern will step down - why don't they use this as a statement of change beyond coaches and players - show some gumption and put it all on the line.
Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
Fair points. I do seem to remember getting a similar kind of missive this time last year, signed by someone else....!!
Maybe there's a typo, it should have Red "...eleven back room staff and board members..." which got auto corrected to "...eleven backs with bored members..."

Not bored stiff I hope!
Not with the new Chinese physio

You have to remember that the majority of the members wouldn't be thinking at all about the board, and it is really only people on here that are deeply interested in the back room.
they have told us, finally, that it hasn't been good enough. The letter was never going to please everyone!
When I read the letter it reminded me of the survey some (all ??) of us were asked to complete about 2-3 months ago. Maybe I was a tad optimistic but it seemed to me that the responses received from that survey had been passed on to RWA and they might have been somewhat shocked by what they were given. I'm assuming of course that there was a significant number of responses similar to my own which were less than complementary about performance/promises each year/ board competency/Vern reid competency/etc etc.
I'm left wondering whether there is a view amongst the board that shares the opinions expressed by members. Perhaps it's not just a cosy jobs-for-the boys set up after all ??
