“Everyone knows whether it’s rugby, politics or whatever, front-rowers should rule the world, so to have a hooker at the helm makes sense,” Nathan Charles Western Force & Wallabies Hooker.

I think Sharpie is a legend and he's done a lot for the Force, but surely the stand should be named after a West Australian
Laugh and the world laughs with you.......
......cry and you'll weaken your beer
I'm with you Eley. A stand gets named and it is for decades. Absolutely no disrespect to Sharpie and what he has done for the Force, but if we name a stand I would like it to be for a WA player that made it to the top and contributed to the local scene throughout. There have been lots of people done much for WA cricket, but the stand got named for Lillee and Marsh. I'd love to see some rugby equivalents and would be more than willing to wait.
Eley I think that is a very fair point.
But, if someone has lived in WA for 7 years,
owns property here, and
proudly represents our state.
And has said that he will continue to have some involvement with our team, I am happy to call him a West Australian.
As an example - John Inverarity has a stand named after him at the WACA ground - he hasn't lived in the state for over 30 years.

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa
Perfect case in point Ex. Inverarity was a Subi lad that had a 23 year domestic and international career, captaining WA for the best of it including four shields in five years. Moody didn't captain many less and had about the same win ratio, but he didn't win the ones that mattered. Any number of other players were better players, including deadset legends like Gilchrist. But it was Inverarity that had the stand named for him, rightly to my mind. It has now been the Inverarity stand for about 40 years.
A name on a stand has to be justified by a legacy that is difficult to top. As much as Sharpie has been good for us, I have to hope someone beats hell out of his record with the Force and soon.
I think we all tip in and get a great big sign to drap off the shed roof. The sign to read :-
THE SHARPE END.
At the Perth Glory game tonight and I've noticed people sitting in parts of the new stand at the opposite end to the Shed

Thats a wierd name for a stand.
Southern stand is apparently supposed to be complete for this weekends Glory game
Just having a look at some of the computer images of what it will look like once complete does anyone know what the big balloon looking thing are behind the stands?
trees maybe?
