Scott Johnson. Creative thinker, respected attack coach, and I know he was well-respected by the Welsh players he coached. Seems to fit the bill for what is required.

    Eddie O'Sullivan... not so much.

Tim would certainly make a good option. The stint with the Cats probably didn't do him many favours.

I was in favour of O'sullivan before Johnson's name was mentioned. With his coaching record,if Johnson is as strong as the Hurricanes boss, give him a 5 year contract with license to clear the club of the deadwood(on &off the ground)who are just doing enough to keep their jobs.Get the spark and enthusiasm that used to explode onto the ground back in the early days-but do it NOW

I saw Knuckles on an LNP billboard on the Sunshine Coast - I'm guessing he has other interests now...

Just watching Sportsline and noted the back page of one of the Sydney papers stating that the EWF will unviel Michael Chieka as the new coach. Can some one shed some light ?

We may hear something in the next week or so??

    http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/spo...w-super-coach/

This report also denies that either Pocock or Sharpie have been involved in the interviews.

It seems to be my duty to provide a further update pursuant to my original update of 1st June, so here we go:

2nd round of interviews are now complete and were an outstanding success. Those interviewed presented some excellent ideas and development plans which impressed the heck out of those interviewing. Word on the street at the completion of interviews was that, if the coach appointment failed, at least they had a bucketful of ideas for the next year or so, and that maybe any idiot could implement them.

They are even closer to making the announcement than has ever been the case before. This, some might say, is simply because it’s four weeks later and time waits for no man. Or woman.

There was no mention of Scott Johnson in my first report, so I have now rectified that. I trust that helps sittingbison, if not anyone else.

Knowing the people in rugby circles that I know here in Perth, and hearing certain speculation in certain sections of certain media, I am very confident indeed that the announcement is very nearly, almost practically, imminent, and it will be made sooner rather than later, in the fullness of time, once all things have been thoughtfully considered.

The final announcement will receive wide acclaim from all quarters, some of it positive. What Tim Horan makes of it is anyone guess and will probably echo the sentiments of the QRU, who will have said the exact same thing just before Timmy says it. Again.

Anyway, there’s the update to keep everyone apprised of developments, in my version of untrue speculative rumours about the progress.
