My voting starts with the highest number then decrements down to 1 usually. Can be interesting for the upper house voting.

I cant sit back and read that people are going to hand in a blank vote or just cop a fine. Go to Zimbabwe, people get killed over not voting or voting for who they want, not who they are told. We have the chance to vote and have a say and not get killed, why would you give that up?!

Do you purposely want to be a Communist because it matches your hair or something?

It's great spitting on the rights that our forefathers fought wars to grant us though right?

Australia wasn't founded in war, BLR, unlike the US.

Anyway... neither major party looks any good to me. Neither have any vision for the state, just a smattering of (most likely) empty promises with the odd random policy thrown in.

I will be voting Labor. Having just witnessed the total contempt for the common man that was the Federal Liberal Government, there is no way i can bring myself to vote Liberal based on a promise on a forum to upgrade MES to 25000. I don't want a disunified Liberal party running WA. They have not put any policies on the table that differ to Labors at all. While not entirely popular in detail, Labors commitment to $21b in capital works ensures employment opportunity, economic and social growth and is at least an idea that is independent. I also don't buy into the muckraking side of this election, nobody can claim to be perfect. The state needs to keep moving forward, Labor can do this more coherently than Liberal i believe and if not then its only 3 years until we can reassess the situation. I want a Government with some sort of long term plan and doesn't give into the general public's desire for quick fix after quick fix.

In the end, both major parties found themselves towards the bottom of my list.

Though traditionally a Labor voter, their conduct locally since I came to WA, and particularly with regards to manipulation of the electorate in the last month-early election, half of which has been completely overshadowed by the Olympics and their small-target strategy including deliberately mis-quoting the opposition (the "yes they do" business on nuclear waste). None of those things, in and of themselves, make them unfit to govern, but that kind of behaviour shouldn't be rewarded either- you wouldn't put up with it from your toddler, so why the State Government? Had I voted for that, I probably would have needed to spend the day in the shower trying to scrub off that disgusting feeling.

It's very similar to the NSW state election earlier this year- I believe Labor campaigned on a "There's more to be done" platform, admitting that the previous 3 terms had acheived Sweet-F-All and were basically returned as the opposition wasn't a viable alterntive. Well 6 months on, the joints in disarray again- the new Premier has been in the parliament for all of 18 months, and according to Costa, who went the spak-attack after being shafted yesterday, the books are worse than anybody was letting on.

If I were voting in the Warnbro electorate, Shane would probably get my vote because he's personally made some effort to engage with us here and had some undertaking re: the stadium. That would be a vote more motivated by personality than the wider Liberal picture though.

The West sure had it right yesterday- "The Unknown and the Undeserving"

That may have been the case in the past. Today it's not quite so clear cut.

Personally I've never felt comfortable with a one party nation.
At present there is no balance between State and Federal.

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

What was that i missed all the news last night

Don't mix State issues with Federal Issues.

Neither side really put forward a compelling case to be elected mind you, I agree with swee in the assessment that the West this morning was on the ball

You might as well crap in the ballot box, if you're going to lodge an informal vote.
