will be ironic if he gets injured before and misses the whole thing.
probably the smart move, with Giteau and Barnes coming off-contract in 2011 and both unlikely to remain in Australia.
Just goes to show how much confidence this guys has, willing to back himself to improve rather then the safety first option.
Or a mungo club has told him that they will have more room in their salary cap on another years time.
Love how Reds players are as pure as driven snow while anyone else is a conspiracy waiting to happen in some eyes.

Good on him..maybe he wants to make a move to the Force next year..??
Seems this is so.

One year to atone for his sins in Queensland then over to the West for a fresh start.
ha, poor diddums, mate you replace 'reds' with 'western force' in that paragraph and you are on the money.
Seriously, only a dumbass would believe that Quade remained in Union because the NRL promised him more money in 2012, the fact is Quade remained in the RU because of the RWC in 2011, secondly if he performs well in the 2011 RWC as he backs himself to, then he is in the position of been 1 of 3 playmakers off contract(Barnes, Giteau and Cooper), you do the maths and figure out who is of more value.
I can't speak for Burgs, but I think that's one right we have on a Western Force supporter's site.....
Yep, still a gutsy move though. the Blackness has a year to figure him out and there might just be some undiscovered Phenom waiting in the wings, Ingury Illness and Dan Carter could all conspire to make him look bad in the WC....it could be HUUUUUUUGE for him, but it COULD all go to shit as well.

I really hope he does well, continues to improve (learns to tackle) & becomes a Wallaby legend. He's come through some serious personal errors of judgement but he's still young so deserves a break. This is what we'd be saying if he was a Force player I'm fairly sure. Remember a few years ago when Gits could do no wrong in our eyes? Just trying to bring an unbiased view on his signing up for a year. He has negotiated very well to get a 1 year deal (this is what JOC was holding out for but 3rd party sponsor wanted a longer commitment) and has given himself the opportunity to raise his value and renegotiate after the world cup. Much better to renegotiate then than another year down the track. Let's hope he starts the value raising tonight!!
PS- I'd love to see him come to the Force after the world cup but we'd better finish better than 2nd last or no amount of cash will attract him

Surely only a dumbass would be up at that time of the night pontificating on an opposition team’s forum?
As for the changing of the names, that may well be but I believe two sayings may well apply, “Two wrongs don’t make a right” and “It takes one to know one”, at least as Gigs suggests we are on home ground on TWF.
The odds of Giteau staying at the Brumbies and Barnes staying at the Waratahs are no greater or less than Cooper staying at the Reds. All will be looking out for themselves and all will be pursued by Australian and European clubs alike. He isn’t “backing himself to improve” (all pro players do that), he’s backing himself to get a better offer than from the in administration Reds in twelve months. Enjoy him while he is still in Brisbane.

From the Daily Telegraph
So too some 11th-hour advice from Cooper's boyhood idol Carlos Spencer.
Spencer told The Daily Telegraph on the eve of the Bloemfontein Test last week Cooper was a once-in-a-generation player who'd be "silly" to go to league with the chance to light up the World Cup.
"To have words like that from a childhood hero, and still a hero now, wow," Cooper said. "What he said about me is very special for me.
and then from the Sydney Morning Herald
Coincidentally, the Wallabies have the man the All Blacks believe can be the X-factor in their World Cup campaign, Sonny Bill Williams, to thank for helping to convince Cooper to stay in rugby until the World Cup. ''Sonny Bill is a guy who I deeply respect, and to get an opinion from someone like that, who has played and done well at three sports, is huge,'' Cooper says. ''The advice I got out of him was that playing in front of 5.1 billion people who would be watching over the period of the World Cup is something I might never get again.''
