Quite an impressive showing by the underdog Highlanders however, the Blues continue to be their own worst enemy forcing the extra pass and making too many lineout errors at inopportune moments.
The Highlanders had similar lineout errors but not at the same critical times as the Blues.
The intercept try really snuffed out any chance of a Blues victory and once the borderline TMO try was awarded the Highlanders were always going to win.
A real chance at salvaging a bonus point was thrown away when the Blues settled for a Penalty Goal with about seven left on the clock as, without an intercept they were battling the run of play for most of the second half.
I have a soft spot for the Highlanders as a bunch of good honest battlers against the big names of NZ rugby in the Blues, Canes and Crusaders and it is always good to see them get up.
