Wallabies winger Drew Mitchell has reportedly accepted a two-year deal to play with French Top 14 rugby club Toulon.
Fairfax reported the flyer will link up with former Test star Matt Giteau at the end of the year after agreeing to terms.
Mitchell has been linked with an overseas move for some months.
It was understood there was a NSW Waratahs/ARU offer but it did not match what was tabled by Toulon.
Mitchell has played 63 Tests for the Wallabies but has had a mixed domestic season in 2013, at one stage getting dumped from the Waratahs' match-day 22.
He alluded to a possible departure on Monday, speaking of his time playing for NSW and Australia.
"First and foremost, playing for Australia means absolutely everything to me," he said.
"And playing here at the Waratahs ... I have been to a few different clubs ... Of the three I have played (at), I certainly feel most at home here."
"It's a challenge thing, what I want out of footy and life."

Good luck to him. He's so lucky to still be playing with the injuries he's had over the last few years.

Dead set
I was always under the impession that we couldn't unless we were offered similar exemptions to the Rebels. We're allowed one foreign marquee (capped) player and two foreign development (uncapped) players.
But looking up David Smith's details, he's not listed as ever playing for the All Blacks, or even Samoa. Maybe he could qualify as our second development player (after Ebersohn), although I don't know if one of Lynn, Eaton, Haywood, Tupou or Tuatara-Morrison are currently taking that spot.
He played 7s for NZ so that counts him out and is the reason he need to be a marquee player

“Everyone knows whether it’s rugby, politics or whatever, front-rowers should rule the world, so to have a hooker at the helm makes sense,” Nathan Charles Western Force & Wallabies Hooker.
So having already been a marquee once, can he come back?

Good luck Drew. Getting dropped from the tahs a few weeks ago must have made up his mind.

Don't know of any reason why not.
