Entire Qantas Wallaby RWC campaign to be live on free-to-air
November 15, 2006 - 3:56pm
Story by: ARU
Sports fans around Australia will be able to follow the Qantas Wallabies' entire Rugby World Cup campaign live on free-to-air television next year.
Network Ten today announced it has secured the free-to-air broadcast rights to the 2007 Rugby World Cup, the third biggest sporting event in the world behind the Soccer World Cup and the Summer Olympics.
Ten's broadcast will feature 20 of the 40 pool matches, including all four pool matches involving the Wallabies and 16 pool matches featuring the major rugby nations.
These 20 pool matches will be broadcast live into all markets. Ten will also air same-day replays of major pool matches, allowing fans to catch all the action during the daylight hours.
In addition, Ten will broadcast all four Quarter Finals, both Semi Finals, the 3rd/4th Playoff and the Final live into all markets. Again, replays of these matches will be shown during the day.
Australian Rugby Union chief executive officer, Gary Flowers, said Network Ten was showing a major commitment to Rugby.
“Network Ten's commitment to broadcast the Rugby World Cup live around Australia is great news for Rugby fans and will give our sport a major profile boost.
“As we have seen in previous World Cups, the Wallabies will enjoy the support of all Australians, not just our core Rugby supporters.
“The fact that Network Ten will be taking the Wallabies' Test into the living rooms of all Australians will allow the whole country to get behind the team.”

It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa

And whats this smart and good looking bit?
Has Fox any rights?
Damn well hope they do!!
We've had foxtel since 97, but 2 days ago got foxtel iQ![]()
Fox better have rights... I watched the Wallabies and Italy game on ten when I was staying with my Aunty and Uncle on the weekend and I couldn't believe how low the quality of it was in comparison to a Fox broadcast.
I have officially become a sports presentations snob. It's Fox or nothing for me!
... unless Fox was absolutely not an option.![]()
I made Happy sad...
At least they'll be showing the games live rather than the ridiculous delays we've had to put up with on the European tour. Now I hear that the Scotland game is going to be shown 3 hours after it started.......ridiculous & I'm not happy!!!

aren't you going to the quiz night JK? Isn't the game being showed live there?

If I'm allowed back into the country then I will be at the quiz night.....I think the game is being shown 'live' on 10....as in when 10 decide to get of their fat asses & show it!
Now it may be an earlier kick-off in Edinburgh (2.30pm instead of the 4.30pm vs Wales) so it might still be on 10.30pm here in Perth. Generally games kick-off earlier in Scotland as it's the only way to keep the fans sober enough to make it to the game!!!!!

I was always taught that with rights came responsibilities.
Ten have the rights to broadcast this Tour and the RWC, they therefore also have the responsibility to do better than the third rate Access 31 efforts they have managed so far!!!
If they maintain as a standard what they have presented so far I think the iRB legal wing may well get a little "irate"!

Murrayfield is a "dry" venue, there is no alcohol allowed so I wouldn't think that is the reasonOriginally Posted by JediKnight

It is a 14:30 kick-off but that is because it gets dark earlier in Scotland and the jocks are so tight they want to get the game finished before needing to put the floodlights on.![]()
It may be a dry area inside the ground but it's anything but outside....especially in the car park! The early kick-off means there's less time for supporters to get settled into the many fine drinking establishments that Edinburgh has to offer.
