Veteran Wallabies hooker Brendan Cannon is expected to announce his injury-enforced retirement from rugby union today.
Cannon, 34, is to attend a press conference with his Western Force coach John Mitchell in Sydney at 10am (AEST).
Cannon consulted his specialist in Perth yesterday after suffering a second major neck injury scare.
He was stretchered from the field and taken to hospital after being hurt in a scrum collapse during the Force's Super 14 loss to the Crusaders in Christchurch 10 days ago.
He missed the bulk of last season after suffering a severe compression of two vertebrae in his neck with bone chipping off and lodging in a nerve canal, requiring surgery.
Cannon made his return on the Wallabies' end-of-season tour to Europe, earning his 41st and 42nd Test caps.
He has played a total of 105 Super rugby games for Queensland, NSW and the Force.
