Crusaders win Super 14 final
May 31, 2008
SERIAL champions the Crusaders once again denied New South Wales their maiden Super 14 rugby title with a tense 20-12 victory in the final at AMI Stadium.
The benchmark Crusaders rallied from 12-3 down after half an hour to reel in the Waratahs and hoist their seventh trophy in 11 years.
Superstar fly half Dan Carter ultimately proved the difference, slotting four penalties and a drop goal for a personal 15-point haul.

Title only a matter of time: Waugh
May 31, 2008
NEW South Wales skipper Phil Waugh believes it's only a matter of time before the Waratahs claim their maiden Super 14 title despite finishing bridesmaids once more.
For the Waratahs and outgoing coach Ewen McKenzie - who was told mid-season his contract would not be renewed in 2009 - it was despair again in Christchurch.
They lost 35-25 to the Crusaders in a one-sided final in 2005 - but at least this time they went down fighting.

He wasnt playing like a captian tonight, giving away that last penalty to shut down the game was really dissapointing.Originally Posted by burgs

It wasn't the greatest game of rugby I've ever seen, but there were some entertaining moments, such as when Thorn got a 10 minute breather and came on probably angrier than when he left.
Success is not final, failure is not fatal:
it is the courage to continue that counts.

The Wests Early post.
And like the Tahs. Shot the load too early.
A spectacular tryscoring double to winger Lachie Turner gave the NSW Waratahs a 12-11 halftime lead over the Crusaders in tonight’s Super 14 final at AMI Stadium.
Turner struck in the ninth and 37th minutes to leave the Waratahs tantalisingly close to securing their long-overdue first Super rugby title.
rest here
CAN YOU HEAR THE WARATAHS SING??
NO!!!! NO!!!!!!!
CAN YOU HEAR THE WARATAHS SING??
I CAN'T HEAR A F**KING THING!!
at least they cant blame the ref, waugh and polota-nau were lucky to stay on the pitch, 'saders had a try chalked off and a player sent off in one fell swoop. lote missing in action on the big stage, wonder boy beale went off after a little bumb ( although his kick for the first try was class). chook your boys were in it but they failed to win it, nobody remembers who finishes second.........
The following guys did well for the tahs and will deserve to be in the National squad
Benn Robinson
Tatafu Polota-Nau
Dan Vickerman
Wycliff Palu
Rocky Elsom
The rest was shocking
I cannot believe that Phil Waugh played the game he played he was a looser from the word go. He conceded 2 long arm penalties, missed a fair number of tackles and his decision making wasn't that of a Australian captain
