Melbourne Rebels winger Cooper Vuna is set to miss the first four rounds of the Super Rugby season after scans revealed a fracture in his shoulder.
Vuna suffered the injury early in Saturday's trial match against the NSW Waratahs in Hobart but the crack in his scapula which will put him out of action for six weeks was only diagnosed from scans late on Monday.
A disappointed Vuna was trying to look on the bright side, relieved that he would not require surgery.
"Initially I predicted the worst, so to see myself coming back into contention early on in the season is a real relief," said Vuna.
"I'll be working hard to be back firing ready to go for my teammates."
The Rebels have one trial match remaining, against the Hurricanes in Geelong on Saturday, before opening the competition in a home game against the Western Force on February 15.

Terrible news when any player gets injured but a timely boost for the Force
Not good news for anyone...except the Rebels!
Dammit, I was hoping to see Vuna line up on the wing....would have made easy pickings for the Badger!
