TEAM OF THE WEEK

Stephanie Gilmore. The young woman from the Gold Coast won her second straight world surfing title.

Sally Loane. Has just been announced as the first female board member of the NSWRU in a long-overdue move.

Jack Watts. No.1 pick of the AFL draft.

The Wallabies. All up, a good, but not brilliant year for them. Building, building, building. Next year, the denouement!

Matt Giteau. Is reportedly flirting with a $10 million offer to join French club Bayonne. You can't do it, Matt. It might be good enough for the leaguies to renege on contracts willy-nilly and sonny-bunny, but it's not good enough for rah-rahs to do that. (Sniff.)

Rod Pampling. Won the Australian Masters.

Loreto Kirribilli 1st VIII Rowers. Have won their first two races this season, which are the first races an LK VIII have won, ever, since they began participating in schoolgirls' rowing 20 years ago.

Matthew Mitcham. Olympic diving champ was last week announced as a worthy winner of the Herald-Age Sports Performer of the Year Award. GOAAAAAAAAAAL-D!

Newport SLSC. Together with running a special program for kids with special needs as part of their Nippers program, last Saturday afternoon they took those special needs kids around to Bayview in a couple of the surfboats for a row. Gotta love this city!
