Gday all!
New to the site.
Grew up in Perth and played first XV at school in the PSA comp.
Sadly (or not- if you consider our home form and the frankly pants view of the pitch one gets at Subi) missing the home games as I now live in Melbourne. Although I did get to the Samoa and Highlander games this year when back visiting fam. Also one of the few but very vocal fans at last years trial v Crusaders here at Melbourne Park.
I reckon there must be a heap of Force supporters here in Melbourne considering how many ex- Sandgropers there are. We should try to organise somewhere to all watch the games.
For my two bobs worth, I reckon there's two things we need to fix at the Force-
1. The lineout!!
2. The song... my god.... it's possibly the worst thing I have ever heard recorded and is unsingable for both the team and the fans. I appreciate that the damage is done and its unlikely to be struck as the official team song any time soon, but what I think is that we should develop an alternate song or chant that we can sing live at games en masse to get the boys fired up.
Think of the greatest sporting chants and songs- hate them as I may, there's something pretty special about 50,000 english rugby fans singing 'Swing Low' in unison around a ground. Something like that- slow, not too big a range, something everyone knows the tune to- thought maybe even 'Auld Lang Syne' with a simple, single verse of 'Force-themed' lyrics. Will have a bash at that myself but I reckon everyone should have a think and see if we cant come up with something fantastic. In my experience, a song or chant that people around the ground can sing together in unison makes an incredible difference to the atmosphere at a game.
Cheers
GO THE FORCE!!
