Scotland go through off of a 4 day turn around for Japan.

No denying the great world cup Japan have had this year, but it's a bit unfair to say that Scotland only went through as a result of a four day turn around against Japan. Most teams had to deal with short turn arounds, including Scotland against USA.

Yeah between a tired Japan team and the USA as opposed to two fresh Tier 1 nations. For sure the schedule was improved this time around but still room for improvement.

I think the world cup has again shown that the gap between Tier 1 and 2 nations is getting smaller. In fact, given that Scotland are a fairly small rugby playing nation - as shown in the numbers below - I'd like to know what classifies a Tier 1 or Tier 2 nation....?
