The Western Force has secured Resolute Mining Limited as a jersey partner for the 2016 Asteron Life Super Rugby Season. The partnership will see the Resolute brand displayed on our number four second row playing jersey.
Resolute operates gold mines in Australia and Africa and is one of the largest gold producers listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX:RSG). Like the Western Force, Resolute operates in a highly competitive, demanding, and challenging global environment and shares a focus on operating excellence, continuous improvement and rewarding stakeholders.
Resolute Managing Director & CEO, John Welborn says he is delighted to partner with his former team.
“We are proud of the investments we make supporting the communities where we operate,” he said. “Sport is a common language and this sponsorship joins our ownership of the Bibiani Gold Stars in Ghana and our support for the Mali Hippos, the Malian national rugby team. Most importantly, I am looking forward to adding to my tally of wins with the Western Force number 4 jersey!”
Western Australia’s first born and bred Wallaby, John was a playing member of the inaugural Western Force team in 2006 and the first player to wear the Western Force number 4 jersey. Since hanging up the boots, John has emerged as an influential leader and entrepreneur in the African mining game.
Western Force Coach Michael Foley says he is delighted to renew a partnership with former Wallaby teammate John Welborn.
“We are pleased to have Resolute’s support in 2016 and I am particularly excited to link up again with an old teammate and one of the game’s characters in John Welborn”.
