Hardy in line for pay hike.
Dave Hughes- The West Australian
An out-of-the-blue, out-of-the-Reds approach from hooker Stephen Moore was a nice surprise for acting chief executive Mitch Hardy, but the news which made him most happy this week was hte upgrading of prop Gareth Hardy.
When the Force entered the Super 14 in 2006, the front rowers struggled to cope. Coach John Mitchell this week told the NZ Herald the props in the first year were 'toothpicks' compared to the 2008 versions.
Noone has impressed the Australian Rugby Union assessors more with his progress than Hardy.
The front-rower might be nursing damaged ankle ligaments which kept him home from the two-game trip to New Zealand but he can soon expet to soothe the swelling by fanning it with banknotes.
Trips to Perth by Wallabies forward coahc Michael Foley and high performance manager Pat Howard yielded the news the FOrce wanted to hear in a year Hardy's contract runs out: he is in line for a significant pay increase.
"The ARU people were impressed with his form and he's moved up the order," said Mitch Hardy.
OK, the line about fanning his busted ankle with the extra dosh was a little crass, but yay for Boof!
