Bring on next season.
The force have proved themselves this season and have put the wind up a lot of our opponents and I think that we have garnered a lot of respect from them.
Everyone, including the Crusaders, know that we really won that match and the Cats know that they got out of jail because we didnt have the experience as a unit to close out that match and leave them on the bottom of the ladder bleeding.
In the end our future in the super 14 comp is looking quite good not just because we are picking up Gits and Drew for next season. It is looking good because we will have more time for the players to train together and with the APC and any matches against the Curry Cup sides they will be able to bring the players match skills right up to scratch against quality competition to get us ready for next year.
The things that have come out of this season...
A forward pack that is the equal of any in the competition with some very good lineout jumpers and in Pocock (from the little I saw last night of him... geez he's a big lad for 18 ), we'll have an excellent flanker who isnt afraid to get in there after the ball.
A couple of players who really stood up when the injuries were crippling the team, Sheppard at fullback and Staniforth at outside centre, and led by example.
We also had a couple of good young players make the step up and really develop into the stars of the future.
On the whole, for our first season as a team I think that we have done really well considering that the players had never really played together as a team while the other new franchise came up from the curry cup as a fully fledged team with a lot of experience of playing together as a team.
To be honest, I think that this is going to be the only wooden spoon in our trophy cabinet and in a couple of years, I reckon that it's going to be joined by the Super 14 trophy.
This year for practice. next year for experience and the year after it will be all ours for the taking
