Hernandez signs for Sharks

Argentina fly-half Juan Martin Hernandez, one of the stars of the 2007 Rugby World Cup, has signed for South African Super 14 side Natal Sharks.

Hernandez joins on a one-year contract after leaving Stade Francais, where he won the French title in 2004 and 2006.

Hernandez, who can also play at full-back, helped Argentina finish third at the World Cup in France two years ago.

"He will be a massive boost to the Sharks backline," said Sharks coach John Plumtree.

Hernandez, 26, will also take on a coaching role at the club's academy, helping young players at grass roots level.

Hernandez has won 32 caps for Argentina, scoring 83 points. He is the fourth Argentine to play for the Sharks, following Jorge Allen, Federico Mendez and Nicolas Miranda.

"We are excited to have signed such a talented international player and wish him a very successful stay with us in the black and white jersey," said Sharks chief executive Brian van Zyl. "Juan is a wonderful player and the Sharks welcome his decision to join us."

Last year Hernandez was linked with a move to English champions Leicester, but the move fell through.
