    Wests power past Cott

Wests Subiaco continued their promising form in the Pindan Premier Grade after a strong performance against an in-form Cottesloe side to record a 21-9 victory at Harvey Field.

With Cottesloe and Wests Subiaco sitting third and fourth respectively prior to the clash, it was hardly a surprise that the opening thirty minutes was tight knit encounter that consisted of strong defensive pressure and heavy hits.

Wests Subiaco coach Steve Montgomery praised his players’ response after going down to UWA last weekend by just two points.

“I’m very happy with the players today and their performance after losing last week against the defending champions UWA,” said Montgomery.

“The forwards said to me at training on Tuesday and Thursday that they wanted to be more involved in the game and it was really pleasing to see how physical they were.”

Rest of the story on RUGBYWA Website

In other matches Associates snapped UWA’s three game winning streak with a nail biting one point result 27-26 at McGillivray Oval, Wanneroo were too good for Perth Bayswater 36-22 while Palmyra were 20 point winners over Rockingham 36-16. Nedlands remained the only undefeated side in the competition with a 62-17 mauling of Kalamunda at The Foreshore.

That prediction will not exactly earn you the status of a grand sage, Gerry. Seems that is a permanent state of mind for RM.

We thought we were gonna pumped by 50 .The seagulls were very unlucky and the best team lost .Wests are rebuilding and just want to give sides a decent game.Sincere condolences to such gracious losers and we don't wanna play you guys in the second round, I think we might default that one

Great to see Montie being referred to as the coach when Wests win for a change.

RugbyWA: Nedlands well clear of chasers

Geoff Mason, The West AustralianMay 21, 2012, 7:01 am

Nedlands continued their undisputed reign at the top of the RugbyWA Premiership with a 62-17 mauling of Kalamunda.

The win gave unbeaten Nedlands a seven-point break at the top but there is a logjam behind them with one point between the next four.

Wests Subiaco and Associates are on 16 and UWA and Wanneroo are one point behind.

Associates moved ahead of UWA and ended the latter's three-game winning run with a nailbiting 27-26 win at McGillivray Oval.

Prop Tetera Faulkner grabbed a hat-trick of tries in Wanneroo's 36-22 win over Perth Bayswater and Palmyra were 36-16 winners over Rockingham.

Wests Subiaco continued their promising form with a strong performance, ending Cottesloe's winning streak at three with a 21-9 victory at Harvey Field.

Coach Steve Montgomery praised his players, particularly his forwards' physical efforts.

"We have lots of sore bodies," he said. "Cottesloe have a very strong defence so it made it hard for us to break them down.

"I'm delighted with my defence today and it's pleasing to see us not concede a try. Our set plays from the line-outs were fantastic, which gave our quick players plenty of opportunities to run at the Cottesloe back line."
Cottesloe coach Ian Fowler said his side was impatient and played into the hands of the visitors.

$7,000 of benefits is apparently the going lure to attract a 1st grade player to Nedlands. That's from a club President yesterday who told me he lost a player this year to Nedlands for this amount.

Any truth to the rumour that Nedlands are appealing the ten game sentence handed down to a Nedlands recently convicted of eye gouging? Why only ten weeks I ask?
