Settle in kids, I have a crazy idea. What if, it's all part of a plan?
“Lightning never strikes the same place twice” so the saying goes. It's Bullshit, lightning hits the same spot all the time. A RAAF facility in Darwin looks after radio and radar for Northern Australia. That piece of land and its antennas are struck hundreds of times yearly.
Anyway, Eddie Jones the Current, and former coach of the Wallabies is world famous for shocking the world when he coached the Japanese "Brave Blossoms" to a historic win in the 2015 Rugby World Cup over the mighty Springboks of South Africa. Japan is famous for being the receiving end of a World Record hiding 158-Nil from the All Blacks in the 1995 Rugby World Cup.
Since Eddies return - the Wallabies got belted by the Boks and narrowly lost to the Pumas. In 2 weeks time, the Wallabies face the All Blacks.
The Wallabies haven't placed a hand on the Bledisloe Cup since retaining the Cup in a 1-1 draw of the 2002 Series. With only two matches in the Rugby Championship in 2023, it is the perfect opportunity to steal the Cup from our cousins across the ditch.
What if Eddie puts it strategies that won't help us against the Boks or the Pumas - but work very nicely against the All Blacks?
What if Eddie loses against the Boks and the Pumas to encourage the All Blacks to rest their star players against those easy-beat Aussies especially considering they have a huge match against the Boks at Twickenham in the lead-up to the World Cup?
Look - I know this sounds a little crazy. But - for the Wallabies to get our hands on the Bledisloe 30 days out from the start of the Rugby World Cup - that would be a game changer - the attitude of the Australian Public would change overnight and the confidence within our Rugby World Cup Squad will go thru the roof.
Maybe, just maybe, Lightning can strike twice.
