Interesting to see Hynes at fullback, Mooney said he wants to give McLinden more time at fullback as well as allowing Bredan Vaalu the chance to play.
Mooney decided to rest McMenimen, give him a little more time to rebuild his strength after the Wallaby tour. Turinui is set to play, although if his injuring prevents him Fetoia will step up.
4 of QLD's best young players wont be playing, Luke Morahan and Aidian Toua are both in the Aus 7's squad for the San Diego match and James Slipper and Michael Schatz are in NZ attending the Murray Mexted International Rugby Academy.
Barnes was quoted saying he thinks Hynes is the "...world's form winger..." (here: http://www.thewest.com.au/default.as...ntentID=122748).
I'm quite impressed that they put him at fullback though. For the Force's sake not so impressed, but if he makes the Wallabies again and Shep needs a rest then I think Hynes is the perfect candidate for the position, like I said during the Spring Tour he has the pace & at fullback I think he has a better opportunity to use the legs that God gave him to get some good runs in and more points on the board. Just so long as it doesn't compromise Sheps spot on the Wallabies I look forward to seeing what Hynes can do in the 15 jersey.
Fairly obvious comparing these two Squads to the Brumbies two the difference in depth but still a pretty handy 1st XV.
Will be interested to see the Force 2nd XV up.
I think it will be about halfway between the Brumbies and Reds one for depth.
The Tahs 2nd XV is probably just the balance of Sydney Uni...
Wouldn't it be great to see this every week, a 1sts and 2nds team list for every fixture! The 2nds fixtures played on delay on Fox Monday afternoon...

TOCC thats a really good team on paper great back line.... as is the Force's backline. Whats the weather forecast for Thursday nite
any reason why McLinden was demoted to the 2nd XV?
i believe there were a few reasons..
He wanted to give McLinden a full game at fullback, but he also wanted a contingency plan in testing Hynes at fullback, rather then having each player only play half a game each he did it this way so they could both get a full game.
I think Mooney is planning on having Hynes play fullback in the first match against the Bulls because he doesnt think McLinden is capable of dealing with the higher altitude and the strange kicking game that high altitude matches have.
Also he wanted to give Vaalu a chance on the wing, apparently his shown enough to warrant a shot at his preffered position.
Andrew Shaw received MOM for the Academy match, apparently he played awsome
Good to see there is a possible Aussie openside replacement for Daniel Braid if he leaves next year
No, I just didn't have a team sheet and overestimated an unknown Force Squad, even the media report later said it was Qld A v an Academy side.
Credit where it is due though and at least I am one prepared to make a statement.
I recall Shaw had a pretty good ARC?

i doubt that would be the same Shaw, he only just turned 20 so it might have been him, but you are probably thinking of Liam Shaw who played 4 for the reds 2nd XV
Ah, Liam it was. Tall fella, a bit balding.

tall? balding? Have to be related to Tony?
I believe so but I may have mistaken that.
