Voice of reason as always re Izzy, but surprised at his comment about the Rebels success justifying/supporting RA's position of getting rid of the Force.Maybe instead of "I think it supports" a "..will be seen by many to justify the RA's position.." would have been easier to accept from our beloved founding member.
Apropos of a discussion in the above podcast about how having a Melbourne SR team gives the ARU/RA an opportunity to exploit the traditional rivalry between Sydney and Melbourne.
What utter BS!
The traditional rivalry in the rugby codes in Australia is between New South Wales and Queensland - a rivalry which the "wise heads" of the ARU/RA have never been able to exploit.
For example, the Reds vs Tahs SR match at Lang Park in 2017 attracted a measly 18,800. By comparison, Lang Park was packed with over 50,000 for both Origin I and Origin III in 2017, and 82,000 rocked up for Origin II at ANZ. I won't be surprised if the crowd at the G for Origin I this year exceeds 90,000.

Jees there I was thinking people were getting really political at last.
I don't really think there's a sporting rivalry between Sydney and Melbourne anymore. There was an old Sheffield Shield one up to the 60s, but that fell away once the WA vs NSW rivalry took hold; but that's now fallen away also. If anything, the A-League had a Melbourne/Sydney rivalry for a short while, until the WSW/Sydney FC one superseded that.
Japan and the Pacific Islands for Aussie Super 9's!
Let's have one of these in WA! Click this link: Saitama Super Arena - New Perth Stadium?
The rivalry in recent decades was more between politicians doing promos and trying to nick events off each other. Largely driven by Jeff Kennett as the state went to the dogs under John Cain and Joan Kerner.
