Detectives have charged a Perth Glory player and another man with assault over an alleged attack at a Morley restaurant early on Monday morning.
Mirrabooka police were called to the Walter Road café about 2am after management reported Glory midfielder Mitchell Prentice and another man, Andrew Gondinoudis, were creating a disturbance with their rowdy behaviour. Police escorted the pair from the restaurant but alleged that when the officers left, the two returned and punched a customer to the head several times.
Mr Gondinoudis allegedly punched the 20-year-old café manager to the face several times, breaking his nose. Police say the men were stopped when the cook threw chilli powder in their faces.
Morley detectives today charged the 24-year-old soccer player with two counts of assault.
He will appear in the Perth Magistrate's Court on Thursday.Mr Gondinoudis, 27, of Dianella, was charged with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm and two counts of assault.
He will appear in the Perth Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
