    The Poms fail once again

    The Poms fail once again

    By Nick Walshaw

    November 17, 2008

MAYBE Eddie the Eagle should just announce his comeback and really complete this farce.

Because English sport is officially at rock bottom after a series of humiliating losses in everything from rugby union to, gasp!, darts.

Yep, the Poms have been bundled out of the 2008 World Cup by our Kangaroos, taught a lesson by our Wallabies and only two days ago came within a whisker of the biggest defeat in one-day cricket history.

In fact, so poorly are Kevin Pietersen and co. playing in India, they were recently toppled by a Mumbai second XI.

    And on the humiliation goes.

glass houses Jargs, the Wallabies and Poms (rugby) are in far different stages of rebulding. Wasn't too long ago we couldn't win a match against anyone who mattered!!

Actually it was NZ that knocked England out of the MWC (Mungo World Cup) but why let the truth get in the way of the truth!!!

I believe the point of the article was that England suck at sport as a whole not just Rugby

Wouldn't be using the cricket too much as a bragging rights issue either, an Ashes at the moment might be a bit of a nail biter...

5-0 last outing and the Poms haven't been too crash hot of late themselves. I will say here and now 2-1 to Australia next year in England

One 2-0 series loss in India of all places does not make for the end of Aussie cricketing prowess (especially when the batsmen were going down swinging in the final test since the daw woudln't help us one iota).

If they struggle to see off the Kiwis in the next few months I'll revisit this opinion.

please a NSW team still in shortpants dispatched them with little trouble. If the Kiwis don't get their act together this 2 test series will get ugly fro the boys from across the ditch

Not saying the end by any means, but having just returned from India with our tail rammed up our arse and then started the new summer with a large loss to an invitation XI in the slap and tickle, it probably isn't the week to be using cricket as a sport to be bragging about that's all.
We are a far different (lesser) combination than the one that went 5-0 too just quietly, by next year we should be well on track again and 2-1 would sound pretty fair to me too.

India being a place we have only won once in 41 years, while it was a defeat It's not that big. We only lost 2-0 becasue we actually chased the result in the 4th test as the draw was not good enough. 2-0 flattered India.

that 20/20 was nothing more then a cash crab by Cricket Australia. Although seeing Justin Langer get a 50 was entertaining as he had been branded a slow batsman for many years
