G’day everyone it’s been a while since I posted on here!
Just a question and wondering people’s points of view of our beloved Western Force being able to foster or engage in two competitions with a mixed roster?
Therefore if we were to build a squad that was dedicated to GRR and if the opportunity came a spot in what seems to be a revised super rugby set up. Could we build two squads to compete in both? Under same or similar Force banner?
I know there would be rules etc about players playing in both etc. but I’d be a supporter who’d attend both competitions.
I like the new GRR but I do want to see us up against the aussie sides too.
I’d see it as an opportunity to blood more young players from WA. To play international and domestic rugby.
It would keep an exciting new competition and opportunities in Asia open as well as allowing us to be part of what goes on across Australia. It will keep us at the forefront of WA forging the way into developing rugby in Australia and Asia.
I’m sure there are lots of road blocks for an idea like this but lol I’m a fence sitter who likes pie in sky ideas.
So what are your thought?...
Whether it could be done would largely depend on what Andrew Forrest would be prepared to fund. If it was done as an expanded squad putting out teams in two comps I think it could work out very well. Particularly if there is an absence of an NRC, as GRR might serve much the same role at least until the rest of the teams match up in terms of professionalism and standard (although with luck that might happen very quickly). In reality though, the primary hurdle would be RA, especially if it looked like working out to an advantage.
Yeh fair enough - hopefully with new RA admin they take a more aggressive role in promoting rugby communities across Australia. There is a point where they need to just grow the game.
Sure, although their version of that is as likely to be to insist that the GRR fund a team in each of the SR cities so the Force doesn't have an advantage...![]()
Sorry to burst your bubble Mothy, but the news for the past couple of days is two Aussie teams into a trans-tasman competition.
McLennan thinks it'll be NSW and Qld, but knows they won't compete.
Clarke thinks it'll be the Rebels and doesn't care who else, as long as the Rebs get the pick of the best players
Most of NZ think it'll be the Brumbies (because they're good enough to win a few) and the Force (because even NZR are looking to spend Twiggy's money for him)
My vote, keep the Force in GRR, pick the bones of the dead and dying super teams to provide marquee players for the other GRR teams and laugh at Rugby Australia bumbling along to its own demise.
C'mon the![]()

My goodness, Gigs, you're even more bitter and twisted than I thought!
Fulvio's imagination has taken him into the conspiracy realms,LOL
East Coast want Twiggy but not the Force.
