Former Australian cricket team vice-captain Adam Gilchrist and Western Force skipper Nathan Sharpe went head to head in the sweltering heat at the WACA yesterday.
The local sporting legends each captained a Twenty20 cricket team made up by past and present teammates and 16 die-hard cricket fans who bid for the once in a lifetime experience at last year's Ronald McDonald House Charities Mercedes-Benz Ball.
Team Ross North Warriors Gilly's XI padded up with Gilchrist, who has been patron of Ronald McDonald House Subiaco for 10 years, along with cricketing stars Michael Hussey, Shaun Marsh, Marcus North and Ryan Campbell.
Michael Oosterhof, left, with Michael Hussey, Adam Gilchrist, Nathan Sharpe, Nathan Charles and Richard Brown.
Team TS Marine Nathan's XI, headed by Sharpe, who is Patron of Ronald McDonald House Charities Family Retreats in Bunbury and Jurien Bay, included star recruits, Western Force teammates, Mark Bartholomeusz, Ben McCalman and Matt Dunning.
After Sharpe's team were surprise victors off the last ball, the lucky bidders, who collectively paid $55,000 to take part in the event which has been running for three years, enjoyed post-match presentations and a barbecue with the stars.
