Western Force being pushed into secret ARU negotiations as axe looms for one Australian Super Rugby side
Nick Taylor
Western Force is being pushed into secret negotiations by the Australian Rugby Union as it tries to cut a Super Rugby franchise.
The ARU wants to take its legal battle with the Force behind closed doors in an arbitration hearing in Sydney.

Here comes the thirty pieces of silver.
With RugbyWA preventing the ARU acting because of the signed Agreement document and the Melbourne Rebels preventing the ARU from acting because of their private ownership agreement.
What is the legal reason the Brumbies cant be the team axed?

I can't see RugbyWA accepting anything short of the Force being in the competition as per the contract. It's not like a financial settlement or anything else that the ARU could offer would appease the WA Rugby community.
Generally speaking you aren’t learning much if your lips are moving!!!
Thereis nothing to negotiate. We have one position-remain in the comp.save ourselves the air fare. See u in court.
If their aim is to avoid court then scrap/merge the brumbies
Not even as a self preservation thing, but im even more behind "stronger as five" the more this drags out.
They stated financial reasons, "own the force" and financial backing seem to be popping up for not just us.
The players across all 5 franchises need to use RUPA stand united put pressure on the state franchises (i.e. Tahs thinking losing a team is a benefit for them and not the game thinking). Fans included (who are leaving in droves)
Its not the amount of teams that is broken but the system. clean up the conference system, make it easier to follow for the average punter, As has been suggested on GAGR there are ways to do this that will result in less travel and more time-zone friendly games.
Why the ARU or SANZAAR are not willing to look down this avenue is beyond me. If the system continues as is we will be in the same predicament in the future
I do not want to merge with Brumbies.
Don't be fooled by the headline. We're the ones that have pushed the ARU in to this corner!
Great game, Fucken battled right through to the 80!

Some of you people don't do irony very well.
An article in the Fin Review last week discussed the interest which is being taken by the relevant state and territory governments in the outcome of the ARU's proposed culling of a Super Rugby franchise.
The article implied that should either the Rebels or the Force be culled from the Super Rugby competition, then besides a protracted legal dispute with the losing franchise, the ARU could also find that it has picked a fight with either the Government of Victoria or the Government of Western Australia.
Is that likely or possible?
Would the respective state governments have standing to seek redress from the ARU if a cull of their state's franchise was to happen?
The ARU claim there is a clause in the alliance agreement between the Force and the governing body that commits them to arbitration
arbitration my ass this is divide and conquer the oldest trick in the book Dont fall for it RUGBYWA dont give an inch
