I heard prior to the start of last year's Super 14 Gary Flowers organised a meeting with the CEO's of the Australian Super 14 provinces. Unfortunately QRU CEO Ken Freer was holidaying abroad and ACT's CEO Andrew Fagan had a cold and couldn't attend.
So Flower's asked NSW CEO Fraser Neill what goals had he set the Waratahs that season.
So Neill said," Well as Chris Whittaker has gone off shore and we have long term injuries to Vickerman, Dunning and Waugh, I have asked the guys to help bring the new blokes through and win enough games to stay of the bottom of the ladder."
Flower's turned to WA CEO Peter O'Meara and said "And you Peter?"
O'Meara replied," Well we want to win the Super 14's championship without losing a game, win each game with a 50 point margin and get all 15 starting players into the Wallabies!"
Neill looked surprised by this statement and said,"That a bit ambitious Peter."
So O'Meara turned to Neill and said,"Well you started it!"
