Have been collecting data on ruck involvement and thought it would be worthwhile to see how Kane's going against other Aussie No 7s.
I don't collect data from all games and have little data for OSF from the Rebels.
It's fair to say that for this part of his game Kane is doing very well.
In summary:
a) Equal highest ruck involvement per 80 minutes (with Liam Gill).
b) Highest support for ball carriers per 80 minutes.
c) Lowest involvement in Defensive rucks per 80 minutes.
d) Lowest turn-overs won per 80 minutes (as per c) above).
e) 2nd lowest Penalty rate.
++Showed his ball carrying ability against the Sharks with 8 carries for 54m; 3 Defenders Beaten; 2 Clean Breaks. 5 tackles at 100% (equal team high).

His real strength is his bone crunching hit's. We haven't seen it yet with his role defending out in the C channel with all opposition identifying and attacking in and around the fringes. Me personally if I was Foley would give him a bit more leniency and move him in closer to put some trademark massive shots on. Am surprised his shoulders are still working after some of the hits I've seen him do.
Wests Scarborough 1st Grade juggernaut has played finals rugby each and every year since its inception and continues this remarkable feat yet again this season and unbelievably it's still rolling on and as an added little circle jerk for the masses Wests actually hold the record for the current longest unbroken finals record.
I forgot his tackle counts:
Bulls - 9 tackles/1 MT (90%). Team high was Wykes & McCalman (10 tackles at 100%)
Sharks - 5 tackles at 100%. Equal team high with Sam Wykes.
Kane played really well last night. Had some good carries and a lot of involvements on attack and defense. Is developing nicely. Needs to add a pilfering aspect to his game on d. Otherwise hes going well.
There are 3 types of people in this world, those that can count and those that can't
And I thought he did really well to get back into a tackle on the Sharks No. 6 early on last night, when he took a massive bump from the Sharks player...!
Maybe lacking in size/bulk but he's sure got a big one of these - hope it's infectious

Some stats on the rest of Kane's game compared to other No 7s.

It's unfair showing the backs in that list. Of course you would expect a crashball centre like Hooper to have more runs and tackles than guys who work hard at the breakdown!
