The Western Force's injury and illness toll continues to rise, with Wallaby hooker Brendan Cannon in doubt for Saturday night's Super 14 game against South Africa's Bulls in Perth.
Cannon has a bronchial complaint and could only jog laps at training today, while captain Nathan Sharpe is still battling the virus which saw him taken to hospital after the loss to Queensland in round five.
Force coach John Mitchell said he was trying to stay positive despite the setbacks at the new club.
"I've often described competition as crisis management - I guess I'm getting a pretty good lesson in that area right at this moment," he said.

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa

"Bloody oath we did!"
Nathan Sharpe, Legend.
Anyone noticed that after the Reds match Sharpie got ill. After the Tahs game, Cannon is ill. Did any of the ex-Brumbies recruits become ill or injured at or after the first round Brumbies game? ( I don't have my player list at the ready)
Is there a trend here?
All this bad luck, means that replacements have to step up to the mark, adding to the depth of experience for next year. Force defence is good which keeps scores respectable.
First year was always going to be difficult. Nobody could have predicted the casuality list.
