NSW traitor bets $800k on Queensland - New Zealand's source for sport, rugby, cricket & league news on Stuff.co.nz
Believe it or not, one New South Welshman will be cheering loudly for Queensland tonight - because's he's risked $A700,000 ($NZ835,000) on them to win a bet worth $A1.2 million.
The New South Wales punter snapped up odds of $A1.74 with interstate bookmaker Matt Tripp and will be hoping for a dry track tonight so Queensland's outstanding backline can show its full array of skills.
Currently on TAB Sportsbet, Queensland is a $A1.65 favourite, with New South Wales at relatively juicy odds of $A2.20, especially considering their home ground advantage.
Storm winger Israel Folau, making his State of Origin debut for Queensland, is TAB Sportsbet's $A9.00 favourite to be the match's first tryscorer, ahead of fullbacks Billy Slater (Queensland, $A10.00), Brett Stewart (New South Wales, $A10.00) and Maroons centre Greg Inglis ($A10.00).

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
Gambling is a destructive addiction, unless it is conducted in vdollars.
This blokes put his house on the other mob.
