    Dunning embraces tighthead challenge

    Dunning embraces tighthead challenge
    June 23, 2008

AUSTRALIA prop Matt Dunning is hoping his transition from loosehead to tighthead will extend his rugby career.

Dunning admitted his move had been challenging but enjoyable and said it may even delay the need to find a real day job.

More so than looseheads, tighthead props often play Test rugby well into their 30s, and 29-year-old Dunning believes there is no reason why he can't as well, providing he continues to perform.

"I've got no set profession to go into when I finish football," said the 37-Test veteran of two World Cup campaigns.

"I've definitely got some career paths I'm looking at, but they won't be hampered if I'm playing football until I'm 45.

Don't donuts have used by dates?

Dunning could be a lot worse of a player and at the present he's doing ok, he has the weight to help the scrum but I dont know that he will be good to play until he's 45

I think you're all wrong, Gary Mickle played first for Pally at....what.....was it 50?

now Donut boy is only playing club level rugby at the moment, and if it has been proven that you can play club level rugby at 45 then I see no reason why the management of the ARU would have any problem with him playing club level rugby in a Wallaby jumper for as long as he likes.

Let's face it, he's still in the team now, Al Baxter's still in the team....what more proof do you want?
