NRL stars linked to Kings Cross shooting
Rugby league stars Jarryd Hayne and Mark Gasnier have been linked to a shooting in Sydney's Kings Cross nightclub district.
It's understood Hayne, who plays for Parramatta, was shot at on Ward Street in Kings Cross as he was walking with two friends at 4.20am (AEDT) on Monday.
The three escaped injury in the incident, which police was not related to a shooting in Kings Cross Sunday night in which a nightclub owner was wounded.
Parramatta rugby league club CEO Denis Fitzgerald told AAP his club was trying to locate Hayne Monday morning.
"We've obviously heard the reports but have been unable to contact Jarryd Hayne so we are none the wiser in regard to that at this stage," he said.
"We are trying to locate him and others."
Early reports suggested St George-Illawarra's Mark Gasnier was also caught up in the incident, but the extent of his involvement remained unclear.
Without naming who was involved, police said a Parramatta man was shot at on Ward St at 4.20am (AEDT) on Monday by a man standing beside a car.
"A Parramatta man in his 20s informed police that he was walking in the (Kings Cross) area with two friends when he noticed a man standing beside a car," a police spokeswoman told reporters.
"The man then fired a single shot in his direction.
"The three men then ran from the area and contacted police.
"The man who fired the shot then returned to the car and left the scene."
Asked if he knew the identity of other players caught up in the incident, Mr Fitzgerald said: "I've heard inside the club that there was an incident and that the other player, but this is not official, is a player from another club - it was Mark Gasnier."

Dont take on anything until you are fully prepaired.
Lack of drive will only see your demise
Just because they were shot at doesn't automatically mean they are guilty of anything, unless of course you work for SMH...

i figured that, just thought i'd point it out................I'm surprised John O'Neill hasnt asked for them to be sacked.............he strikes me as a bit of a control freak
Its NRL how does John O'Neill have any say??
Gasnier was not involved apparently
Thats what i heard on the late news last night.
Gaz is a good boy (these days).................ignoring various lewd phone calls to a woman or two
those Parramatta boys are the trouble makers![]()
So now its not ok to go out for an evening with your mates in case someone shoots at you and the fact that you are a professional sportsman or woman makes it scandalous as there must have been a reason for this to occur other than random attacker....SMH all over this, maybe the eels are the new bulldogs...
The whole article is being hyped out of proportion due to the rugby connection, which is totally ridiculous and uncalled for, but i guess that is what sells papers...

Dools and Linda on Triple J were calling bullet proof vest stores today on thier show...they thought it smart to get a vest in the team colours with numbers on the back so they can wear it during the game as well, just in case....surprisingly $800 will cover it!
