Ulster go down at Ravenhill
10 - 26
Despite lots of go-forward ball in the second half, Ulster failed to turn their possession into points. By half-time, Ulster were 16 nil down, with Stade Francais looking strong, and dangerous every time they had the ball. Ulster were'nt allowed to have possession, and Stade ou-tplayed them convincingly. Hernandez in particular controlled the game, and had four drop-kick attempts of which he scored two.
In the second half, Ulster played better, as Stade Francais went off the boil a little. Lots of hard work on the Stade line didn't produce a score, and Ulster were denied a try although TBH, they looked a little bereft of ideas as they moved the ball through the phases. Eventually Paddy Wallace chased a kick-through by Niall O'Connor, and scored Ulster's 1st try, which O'Connor converted.
Again, Stade Francais looked the more dangerous when they had the ball, and Beauxis added another drop-goal. In the end a perofrmance Ulster can be proud of. They played better rugby than previous games, but the outstanding player of the game was Paddy Wallace. His spirited and creative play should stand him in good stead for Ireland in the Autumn Internationals, as Declan Kidney observed from the Stand.
