The owner of the popular Irish pub J.B O'Reilly's in Leederville is seeing red after the WA Health Department told him to remove his tobacco memorabilia signs or face prosecution and hefty fines.

I think it's absolutely stupid to assume that it's advertising given the products that they represent can't be bought anymore. There needs to be a bit of common sense involved where after a certain amount of time it becomes art. Which is what it is

Went to JB's on Sunday last week for dinner and I was wondering why I came out of the place wanting to smoke, imagine my disappointment when I learned that all of the brands advertised haven't existed for decades....

A spokeswoman for the health department said the pub had until March 3 to remove the signs. She said the department spotted the signs during a routine inspection.

...The signs have been here for 23 years...
