Emirates Airline has scored another try for West Australian sporting fans with the announcement today of the extension to their naming rights sponsorship of the Emirates Western Force until the end of the 2010 season.
The two-year sponsorship extension of the Investec Super 14 Rugby team is part of the airline’s ongoing and successful marketing communications mix, which uses sports sponsorship as a way to reach and connect with West Australian travellers and to maximise exposure for the brand.
Boutros Boutros, Senior Vice President Media Relations, Sponsorships and Events said: “Sport evokes people’s strongest emotions, our latent sense of honour and glory, and Emirates is proud to be the naming rights sponsors of the Emirates Western Force. The continued sponsorship further strengthens Emirates association with Western Australia and its sporting passions. For Emirates, this partnership has helped us reach out to those customers and we are very pleased to be able to commit to the team for a further two years.”
RugbyWA Chairman Geoff Stooke said he was delighted that Emirates had signed on for a further two seasons. “They are not just a leading airline, they are a world-class brand and organisation, and we’re very proud that Emirates wants to continue with us on this amazing journey.”
“Emirates has been a fantastic supporter of WA rugby, and this sponsorship extension is further proof of their commitment to the team and the people of this State.”
Emirates entered into a multi-million dollar, three-year naming rights sponsorship agreement with RugbyWA in July 2005. Emirates’ other Australian sporting sponsorships include the Emirates Melbourne Cup, Collingwood Football Club, the Australian Jockey Club, Cricket Australia and the Australian PGA Championship.
