So, to relieve the tedium of endless circuitous discussions over the intentions, prognostications and public statements of SANZAR, the ARU, Eastern State newspapers, Pulver, Sinderberry, and Exiles cat, does anyone mind if I change the subject a little to something dearer to my heart, the local metropolitan competition?
These are my tips for the second round.
ASSOCIATES V WESTS
The Associates Force Academy will give Wests a run for their money in the first half, but will succumb to the pressure of the older, tougher and more experienced hard nuts in the Wests outfit in the second half. This will be a high scoring game, but Wests will win by 15 points.
COTTESLOE V JOONDALUP
Cottesloe will win a close encounter by 5 points. Cott's flyhalf, after a disappointing game last weekend, will lift, and his kicking will keep Cott in the game, both tactically and kicking for goal.
PERTH V NEDLANDS
Nedlands by 30 points, unfortunately. Perth will struggle again, especially in the tight five. Nedlands will have some new imported front row behemoth to take over from Vui. The one good thing though is that they will have to pay for him, as the Force have run out of spares to give them.
WANNEROO V KALAMUNDA
This will be the closest game of the round. If last week was any indication, Kalamunda will play a bruising game, and the Roo Dogs will need to use speed and deftness to overcome the physicality of the heavier Kala boys.
I don't know how a 40 plus year old like KK, who scored two tries last week coming on as a fresh reserve, will handle it this time around. Never-the-less, Wanneroo by 3 points. Because they deserve it.
UWA V PALMYRA
UWA by 75 points.
