From the RugbyWA "Inside Ball" newsletter
Further to the news that there will be a new club in Kojonup next year, talks are underway for a new club in Bridgetown to be formed for the 2008 season as well. Local players are organising a meeting to vote for club officers and to find somewhere suitable to play, as flat areas around the town are at a premium!
Great work!
Congratulations to all concerned
Now just to get that Gero team more viable...

this is good great infact,
BUT
A number of Katanning players live in kojonup as its only 40k's away. so the Krushers are on the recruitment path to make up for the lost playersthe biggest lost will be to our commitee as our secretary left the club as he "didnt have enough time for the commitee" but found time to create a rival club . IMHO Rugby WA would have been better growing Albany/Mt Barker/Denmark region as they already recieve multiple club payments and the population is about 10 times the combined population of Katanning / Kojonup. I realy feel Rugby WA has been led up the garden path in regards to this matter by certin Kojonup identities and the creation of this club at this time will only serve to the detriment of Katanning Krushers. as you could imagine I have a strong view on this as myself and others have put countless hours into the planning, creation and running of the Krushers.
but you cant stop progress
i also heard a rumour that collie may come over to the great southern comp next year
and Burgs, Gero has a team (i played for them at Mt Barker 10's this year), Great Southern played them earlier this year and held them out to nil. we may have heaped on the points but i think gero needs to play other club sides and not a rep side. where would you imagine the gero region could find another town to play on a regular basis? this is key to gero's growth.
and one last thing
BRING IT ON KOJONUP!!!! - we will be waiting![]()

Oh yeah Krusher, I realise there is a team, I even have their logo somewhere
Just as you say needing to get them fixtures.
Maybe they could fit into playing Sixth Grade Bye teams in the first instance?
Perhaps every second Bye they could play etc?
Geraldton it self is destined to grow hugely, some forecasts have it being bigger than Bunbury , due to the minerals boom, so we may see a second club form rather than too much inter town competition.
I guess another option may be to play other country towns Clubs at a neutral Perth venue to save travel for both parties?

well katanning was planning a trip up there but put it off because the great southern / bayswater game for this weekend but i was told yesterday that the game is off. if we knew before what we know now we would have made the trip up. no wukkas there is always next year.

I imagine it could be a fairly attractive option as a pre-season "bonding" (read; piss drinking with a little Rugby) trip for the likes of a Krushers to do?
Knock the cobwebs out and get to know the new players etc?

i am actully working on a plan to expand 10 a side rugby in WA, Margs has the 7 a side comp but i feel IMHO 7 a side is too quick for the current standard of country rugby and 10 a side is a more realistic. i envisage to expand and grow on the success of Mt Barker 10's and build it into a state circuit with Katanning looking into holding a comp on our multicultural day and im hoping margs or gero would be interested in doing the same. another advantage of 10 a side is the bali 10s comp held annualy in october could become a target for the teams. but unfortunatly i am in the middle of a parternity fraud case witch is taking up a lot of my time atm.

Sounds great mate...except for the last sentence
I think it is that kind of outside of the box thinking that will help bridge the gap both around the Country Comps and between Country and City.
Good luck...with both projects...

Can't help but feel a rugby side in Koji will be detrimental to the footy club, be it large or small, which is in a major rebuilding stage and in a vital stage of the clubs future.
But its not like any of you guys care for Footy, haha.
footy.??? define>>>??
Footy is what they play in Koji when they're not playing with themselves.
Ha ha ha, you rugby folk and your incredible sense of humour...
