Rugby's $6 million man, Lote Tuqiri, has been suspended by the Australian Rugby Union for breaching "team standards".
The ARU has announced the Wallaby winger will serve a two-match ban and pay a $20,000 fine.
The ban means Tuqiri will miss the remainder of the Tri Nations series and will not play for Australia again until the World Cup in September.
Tuqiri missed a team medical appointment and a recovery session yesterday. He was later breathtested and found to have an alcohol reading above "team limits".
It is believed Tuqiri failed to wake up for training at Coogee yesterday two days after Australia beat the All Blacks at the MCG in Melbourne.
The Wallabies team disciplinary committee met at Coogee last night and proposed suspending him for one game and imposing a $20,000 fine.
ARU chief executive John O'Neill consulted with management before imposing the two-match suspension.
The ban incorporates a suspended sentence that Tuqiri incurred after an incident in a South Africa nightclub on July 22, 2005 that saw Wallaby halfback Matt Henjak sent home from the tour.
Tuqiri was to have played for the Wallabies in their third Tri Nations clash against the Springboks at Telstra Stadium in Sydney on Saturday night.
Last month, coach John Connolly forced Tuqiri to miss two Tests against Wales to work on his speed.

Wallabies star Lote Tuqiri will not play in the remainder of the Tri-Nations series after being suspended and fined for missing a recovery session following a late night out.
The dual international has been stood down for tests against South Africa and New Zealand and fined $20,000 after he failed to front for the recovery session and was found to be over the team's alcohol limit when later breathalysed.
Tuqiri was on a suspended sentence following an incident in Cape Town on July 27, 2005 where he had an altercation with Matt Henjak after Henjak apparently threw a drink over him while drinking at a bar.
"The agreement that no off-field indiscretions were to occur for two years has been broken and there is no alternative but to impose a two-match suspension," Australian Rugby Union CEO John O'Neill said on Tuesday.
Tuqiri played a major role in Australia's upset 20-15 win over New Zealand in last Saturday night's Bledisloe Cup encounter at the MCG.
ABC Rugby:
Wallabies winger Lote Tuqiri has been suspended for two matches and fined $20,000 by the Australian Rugby Union (ARU) for failing to attend a medical appointment and team recovery session.
The ARU said at a press conference in Sydney that Tuqiri was above the team's alcohol limit when he was breath-tested after missing the appointments on Sunday.
Tuqiri was given a suspended two-match ban for his off-field behaviour in Cape Town two years ago and the ARU said it had no alternative but to suspend the 27-year-old.
The Waratahs star will miss Saturday's Test against South Africa and the return Bledisloe Cup Test in Auckland on July 21, with Brumbies winger Mark Gerrard expected to take his place.![]()

LOL ! $20,000 is not enough - and where does this money go - would be wonderful if this was the start of afund for a rectangular stadium for Perth - we'd have a cracker of a stadium by the end of the RWC if Lote stays on the team !
61 years between Grand SlamsWas the wait worth it - Ya betta baby
$20000 is only a weeks pay for Lote![]()
He's got a few extra weeks R&R. After his last break he came back and got MOTM. I think he's sat down and worked out if he has a good break now he will get Best Player Of The World Cup.

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
HA HA HA, How stupid can you get??
betcha henjak is having a little giggle to himself

I want to know what he did to be considered a certain starter in the next game anyway. One run off a genius Larkham break was about it for another ineffectual 80 mins. How did he get MOM against Fiji? He gets talked up more than any player (particularly now the Tattoo king and big Dull have choofed off back to mungo country) but does little to deserve it. Why then do we put up with these badly behaved morons. The fines should be much higher and put towards the development of junior rugby.
it says it all about the man, but then he his protected. Knuckles give the boy another another another chance.
What a champion, what a punisher! Cam Shepherd should take a lesson from The Master Lote 'bevvy' Tuqiri!
If anything, he's gone up in my estimation.

Totally agree allsaints, not sure why he was such the sacred one but he's buggered that up now anyway.
Personally I think it is great for the Wallabies that he is out of the way, I do however question why Gerrard would be the automatic assumption as a replacement?
Here's the official line from the ARU, at least they didn't leave this one to Sportal to cover...
Lote Tuqiri Suspended For Two Tests Over Team Breach
July 03, 2007 - 5:48pm
Story by: ARU
3 July 2007.
Wallaby winger Lote Tuqiri has been suspended for the next two Test matches over a breach of team standards.
Tuqiri’s suspension and a fine of $20,000 follow his failure to attend a team medical appointment and later a midday team recovery session at Coogee yesterday.
Tuqiri was later breath-tested upon request by team management and returned a reading above team limits.
Tuqiri is serving a two match suspended sentence over his off-field behaviour in Cape Town, South Africa on July 21, 2005.
That sentence was suspended on the condition that no further off-field indiscretions took place.
The matter of yesterday (July 2), was considered by the Wallaby Team Disciplinary committee last night at Coogee.
The finding of that Committee was to suspend Tuqiri for one match and impose a $20,000 fine.- That decision was referred to the ARU for review.
ARU Managing Director and CEO John O’Neill AO, in consultation with ARU Senior Management, has reviewed the committee’s decision and decided the suspended two match sentence should be enforced, along with the $20,000 fine imposed by the Team Disciplinary Committee.
John O’Neill said the findings of the Team Disciplinary Committee reached in 2005 in South Africa were very clear.
“The agreement that no off-field indiscretions were to occur for two years has been broken and there is no alternative but to impose a two match suspension, beginning with this Saturday’s Test against South Africa at Telstra Stadium in Sydney,” John O’Neill said.
“As his club team West Harbour are not taking part in the Shute Shield finals series, the second match to be served as part of the suspension will be the return Bledisloe Cup match against the All Blacks in Auckland on July 21,” he said.
Tuqiri will remain with the Wallaby team in camp.
