World No.3 Australia has been snubbed by the International Rugby Players' Association (IRPA) with no Wallabies being named in the World XV.
The world players' body handed out its awards for the first time, judged by the players themselves.
In a bright note for the Wallabies, fullback Israel Folau was named newcomer of the year.
However, seven All Blacks were named in team.
New Zealand No.8 Kieran Read was named player of the year, adding to the equivalent IRB honour bestowed on him this week.
"There's no greater honour than to be recognised by the people you play against," Read said.
"Rugby's a tough game - on the field there's no quarter given or expected. So for your opponents to single you out for this sort of attention means an awful lot."
Six other New Zealanders were named in a World XV - winger Ben Smith, centre Conrad Smith, five-eighth Aaron Cruden, halfback Aaron Smith, flanker Liam Messam and lock Sam Whitelock.
Four players from Six Nations champions Wales were selected, along with two South Africans and one player each from France and England.
World XV: Leigh Halfpenny (Wales), Ben Smith (NZ), Conrad Smith (NZ), Wesley Fofana (France), George North (Wales), Aaron Cruden (NZ), Aaron Smith (NZ), Kieran Read (NZ), Sam Warburton (Wales), Liam Messam (NZ), Sam Whitelock (NZ), Eben Etzebeth (South Africa), Adam Jones (Wales), Bismarck de Plessis (South Africa) Alex Corbisiero (England)

Education is Important, but Rugby is Importanter!
Sam Warburton? WTF
“Everyone knows whether it’s rugby, politics or whatever, front-rowers should rule the world, so to have a hooker at the helm makes sense,” Nathan Charles Western Force & Wallabies Hooker.
LOL @ no richie
Chuck Norris has the greatest Poker-Face of all time. He won the 1983 World Series of Poker, despite holding only a Joker, a Get out of Jail Free Monopoly card, a 2 of clubs, 7 of spades and a green #4 card from the game Uno.
Bismarck de Plessis
Had a few yellow cards too if my memory serves me correctly.. ???
Warburton struggles to get in the Welsh team every game (they have 3 good 7's).

Only contenders would have been Folau, Hooper and Moore but you can't really argue against Halfpenny and Bismark. Hooper dominated Warburton last week so can consider himself unlucky
No Sir Richie, this team is a joke
Wests Scarborough 1st Grade juggernaut has played finals rugby each and every year since its inception and continues this remarkable feat yet again this season and unbelievably it's still rolling on and as an added little circle jerk for the masses Wests actually hold the record for the current longest unbroken finals record.
Do the people who actually pick this world XV actually watch international rugby
