AUSTRALIA'S upbeat Rugby World Cup build-up has been rattled by the likelihood that match-winner Quade Cooper will be rubbed out by suspension covering the start of the tournament next month.
Flyhalf Cooper was cited for a knee to the head of All Blacks captain Richie McCaw in the second half of Satrurday night's pulsating 25-20 win at Suncorp Stadium.
The win broke a 10-year drought in the Tri-Nations for Australia but the judiciary fallout is of major concern.
Television footage shows Cooper's knee making glancing contact with the side of McCaw's face in the 55th minute.
All Blacks lock Brad Thorn clearly thought there was something in it because he immediately wrestled with Cooper.
Cooper and McCaw were involved in several niggly incidents during the Test which follows on from last year's Test in Hong Kong when the Queenslander shoved McCaw after James O'Connor's match-sealing try.
A judiciary hearing will be held in Brisbane this afternoon.
Cooper already has a two-Test ban on his record for a "tipping" tackle last year.
Any suspension would eliminate the playmaker from Australia's opening Cup match against Italy in Auckland on September 11.
After the match, Cooper said: "I can't remember any incident. In rugby, bodies are colliding left, right and centre (all the time)."

Italy won't be a concern without him, it's in the engine room where we need our best against them, hopefully he's back for Ireland

Quade carries the self destruction gene
Lets hope he can hold himself together long enough to win us a world cup before he implodes
A week off to bump and grind with Steph Rice isn't a bad tonic
Controversy corner
Brad Thorn was clearly coming to knock his head off prior to the knee incident, he ran from about ten metres away!
I hope in the sake of fairness they will also cite Ali Fuck-wit Williams for his deliberate trip.
They might also try and find Bams head under the armpit of various ABs forwards this morning.
In the post match I heard mention of the Cooper v McCaw love going back to Hong Kong, but I don't really remember anything major there?
"Bloody oath we did!"

Ali Williams is the perfect opponent. It's easy to motivate yourself to fire up. You just can't wait to belt d1ckheads like that.
The new version of the haka looks like kiddies having a tantrum
I loved the stare down
They blinked first
Dead set

As history shows the penalties for this is weeks now not matches ( Burger got 8 weeks which put him out for 1 game)) so if we get right SA panel he be right![]()
About time someone touched up richie in the rucks!!
It was blatant in the post match incident will genia had a big smile when they asked quade about it. His reply would have made bill Clinton and Carmen Lawrence proud. I don't recall the incident! Yeah yeah sure mate

Knob of the week to the reporter for asking though...must have been a Kiwi...

i thought it was great. you get caught at the bottom it's at your own peril
It was deliberate niggle with a gentle knee to the head
Not accidental
Cooper should be careful
We don't need our playmaker in the bin for 10 minutes
That could cost a world cup
Brand Cooper is a rugby freak but his brain is still of a 12 year old
It might cost us the world cup
He does foolish things quite frequently. In the Auckland test a few weeks back, the Aussies had clawed their way back into a game and killed/stolen the ball at a allblack ruck hot on attack when Cooper stepped in illegally and gave them a freebie 3 pointer.
He does some dumb stuff
On another night when some passes stuck however, we could have had the blicks down 40 points at halftime. he put AAC over the line and Ioane was free a few times with the line open and 10 m to jog but the last pass was knocked down or fluffed.
Cooper organises the backline brilliantly. He takes the ball flat and has his backs running onto the ball from deep and with option runners. He is also a dangerous threat to the defensive line because they have to watch him closely. He can carve them up if he sees some lazy forwards drifting laterally.
If A.Finger was at 12, we would put teams to bed and enjoy the last 20 minutes instead of ingesting our nails, digits, knuckles and carpi
Mccabe is a plodder and gives us nothing
Faingaa has explosive acceleration. Cooper can put him through half gaps in the blink of an eye. They are made for each other and Faingaa can tackle as well as anybody I have ever seen in any code. He has one of the best techniques I have ever seen and he buries oponents behind the ad line. Even more remarkable is his ability to get to his feet and provide a platform for our backrow to smash into to drive over in counter ruck
The kid is in dynamite form
His selection is due

Totally agree with the comment about Cooper's self-destruct gene - that was a cheap shot and I reckon 'if' he does get away with it - he will consider himself lucky! Williams' trip attempt would have been more appropriate in a Primary School playground!
Forgot to mention, Burgs,- I was at that game in Hong Kong and don't recall any funny stuff between Cooper and McCaw?
After jo'c scored the last try to draw the game richie was one of the tacklers. QC ran in gave richie a shove to the head and a verbal spray. Since then niggle-dee piggle-dee has ensued between the two. Mostly as far as I can see qc has been the instigator with richie responding, maybe he is trying to put richie off his game?
