An article in todays Sunday Times had the stats of a season for 2 couples to come and watch the Eagles and Dockers
"John"
Distance travelled 3850kms
Time travelling 55 hours
Fuel $275
Membership $450
Game day food $44
Game day drink $66
Programs $44
"Molly"
Distance travelled 5830kms
Time spent travelling 66 hours
Fuel $770
Membership $483
Game day food $42
Any comparisons??
They don't eat, drink, travel or spend time doing other things when not at the Dockers/Eagles?
These sort of banal surveys are typical of the low grade "journalism" in the WA press. How much does it cost to send your child to the movies. How much does it cost to go th the Agricultural show, how much this how much that.
As someone once said about something, they know the cost of everything and the value of nothing.
I saw that and thought what a load of crap. They only travel something like 380km Round trip each home game. We've got a few travellers on here don't we? Ox immediately comes to mind, Flame and Burgs when they get down as well?

AFL............Dead set nothing
3250km per season for me, plus drinks, and more drinks when the bus is running. and the hideous food at the servo just outside of mandurah, but it tastes ok because it is washed down with more beer, much more beer, if the bus is running.
Food = Zero. I don't eat the stuff they serve at subi! I take chewies (OK so thats 10 bucks worth of chewies) and well... chew. Food and rugby don't mix I've found. I'd throw it ontop of the person in front of me!
Drinks = Zero. See above with the whole throwing on the person in front of me thing
Distance = I can't count that high.
Membership = My darling Daddy
Travelling = My darling Dad again
Time = enough time to stress. If we stop it can be 5.5 hours but that depends on how late we are going to be for a game and how irriating the passangers are.
Overall, pretty expensive for Old Man Robyn!
I do buy him a program though![]()
A kick in this game is like a rather nasty alcoholic shooter, only as good as it's chaser...

Watching @ the Mine:
Travel: 100km by road
The rest: Free dinner, a couple of $1 Cokes or a few $1.50 Boags, a newspaper and maybe a pack of chips...
Attending @ Subiaco:
Travel: 2300km by road (in a Landcruiser)per match (So 16,100kms if every match of a seven match season for reference sake, best has been four so far)
The rest: Don't ask... Involves the OBH and catching up with mates that I wouldn't do otherwise![]()

This survey just proves that John is a typical WCE blouse. Anyone who can attend 12 matches at Subi and only spend $66 on drinks is a disgrace and should join a Rugby club.

A few others come to mind what about the Innforcers Tours, New Zealand, Canberra and Brisbane then there are a few others like force4eva, AS and Evie have all travelled distances to games and these are just the ones we know about.

I'm pretty suremembers would fork out lotsa $$$$ on official merchandise.
I think you'd have to say that the Tours, while extremely dedicated and costly, fall more into the holiday category than what the initial comparison is though wouldn't you?
You would be getting a fair few air miles up to go to the 10 or so east coast AFL away matches each season too.
And there are those that do it.
