Match of the Round: Wests Scarborough (1) v Cottesloe (3) at Bennett Park, Scarborough
A possible preview of finals action lands at Bennett Park this Saturday when the top-placed Wests Scarborough clashes with third-placed Cottesloe in the Pindan Premier Grade Match of the Round.
The Boars have had a flawless start to their 2015 campaign, returning four bonus point victories from their five wins, including last weekend’s 32-21 triumph over Wanneroo.
Having already edged out Nedlands, 26-19, in their opening round win, Wests Scarborough will face the remaining two top four sides – Cottesloe and Associates – in the next two rounds.
‘Wests’ have been boosted by the return of flanker Kane Koteka from his Western Force duties, while fellow Force recruit Brad Lacey has found his way to the line recently, bagging a double against the Roodogs last weekend.
Cottesloe suffered their first defeat of the season last weekend, when upset 18-17 by newcomers Joondalup at Harvey Field.
Up to that point, the Gulls had managed three bonus point victories, with their miserly defence only conceding 54 points in the opening five rounds – the best record in the competition.
Cottesloe has also benefited from the Western Force bye, with Ross Haylett-Petty and speedster Mitch Scott also returning from Super Rugby representation.

Joondalup (5) v Wanneroo (9) at HBF Arena Joondalup, Joondalup
No love will be lost when these neighbours square off for the first time in the Pindan Premier Grade at HBF Arena Joondalup.
Joondalup has made a strong fist of their first year in the top grade and currently sit just three points adrift of the competition’s top four.
The Brothers will be riding high after last weekend’s 18-17 win over Cottesloe, that included 13 points through powerful scrumhalf Johann Louw.
Wanneroo are still chasing their first win of the season, however, their two most recent results suggest that may not be too far away.
The Roodogs pushed Cottesloe in their 32-14 loss a fortnight ago, before going even closer against the top-of-the-table Wests Scarborough, 32-21, last weekend, which featured two tries to flanker Benjamin Stimson.

Last year’s minor premiers, Nedlands, and 2014 champions, UWA, will squad off at The Foreshore on Saturday.
‘Neddies’ were ruthless in putting Perth Bayswater to the sword last weekend, 66-13, with scrumhalf Michael Ruru continuing the form that led him to the competition’s top try scorer last season, with four against the Numbats.
The home side is starting to hit ominous form, having recorded bonus victories in each of their last three outings.
Meanwhile, the students will be chasing their third successive victory after a slow start to the competition.
UWA successfully defended the RugbyWA Cup against Kalamunda last weekend (36-26) with perennial try scorer, Christian Joubert, crossing for a double, while Levon Kvas-Rothwell was again sharp from the kicking tee with a 21-point haul.

Perth Bayswater (10) v Palmyra (6) at Pat O’Hara Reserve, Morley
Palmyra will have an eye on climbing into the competition’s top four when they travel to Morley to take on Perth Bayswater.
‘Pally’ was forced to share the points with Associates last weekend on the back of a 14-all draw, and will be looking for their first win in three outings.
Flyhalf Jonny Alston has been in good touch for the riverside club, not least of which his contribution of 48 points across his first four matches.
Perth Bayswater will be looking to stem the flow of points against them when they return home following last weekend’s 66-13 loss to Nedlands.
With the side having conceded 305 points this season, the Numbats will be determined for a better showing this weekend in an effort to pull themselves off the bottom of the Pindan Premier Grade ladder.

The Bulls were squeezed out by UWA last week, 36-26, despite centre Faamanatu Apineru continuing on from his seven-try haul against Perth Bayswater the week prior, with another against the students.
After three early victories, Associates will also be chasing a return to the winners circle, after a loss to Nedlands and last weekend’s 14-all draw with Palmyra.
