Mike Denton
The rugby community in Western Australia has been left deeply saddened with the tragic passing of Nedlands player Mike Denton on Friday night.
The 29 year old was with Nedlands team mates in Bali for the island’s annual Rugby 10’s tournament in which the West Australian club had participated over a number of years and were the reigning champions.
The flyhalf was a long time player with Nedlands, joining them in 2006, and a starting member of the club’s Premier Grade side. He played a key role in Neddies’ 2010 Championship winning team and again in 2011 where they claimed the minor premiership.
The New Zealand born back was passionate about Nedlands and his consistent performances for the Royal Blues earned him opportunities in both the Perth Gold squad and the Emirates Western Force 'A' programme.
RugbyWA extends its deepest condolences to Mr Denton’s family, his team mates and the Nedlands Rugby Union Club.
