Pre-season groin surgery and then ongoing hamstring issues kept Lachlan on the sidelines for most of the 2007 Investec Super 14 campaign, making the bench for the Reds match and the squad for the first leg of the New Zealand tour. Lachie’s bad run with injury started way back in February 2006, when he suffered knee ligament damage in the opener against the Brumbies. He looked to have turned the corner with consecutive games in the Mazda Australian Rugby Championship until suffering another groin strain in the ET Perth Spirit match against the Melbourne Rebels. An Australian U21 captain, Lachie made his Wallabies debut against the All Blacks in Auckland in 2005. He made his Super rugby debut the same year, playing for the Waratahs against the Chiefs.
