The New Zealand Rugby Union (NZRU) has admitted it underestimated the depth of disillusionment among rugby fans following the reappointment of All Blacks coach Graham Henry.

NZRU chief executive, Steve Tew, admitted the organisation didn't envisage Henry's new two-year tenure - made after he guided New Zealand to their worst ever placing at a World Cup in France last October - would have been greeted with widespread condemnation.

Henry was retained in favour of Crusaders coach Robbie Deans, with the latter's success in last month's Super 14 final reigniting the debate over which man should have been appointed in the wake of New Zealand's quarterfinal demise.

You live in New Zealand, where the national sport and the national religion is the same thing, you haven't won a RWC since the first one (Not that Kiwi's care about World Cups ) and you didn't see it coming

Burgs, Steve Tew is about as popular as a turd in a spa pool currently. He is actually an ex Canterbury RFU Board member, Jock Hobbs is Aussie Bob's brother in law, Jock and Deans went were in the same class right through high school (Christ's College - a little piece of upper class England in the heart of Christchurch) and Jock is the NZRFU Chairman. No nepotism there!
To say there has been blood spilt is an insult to any AB supporter. Henry sits with self-rightous smug look on his Father Ted face but has taken little or no blame on board for the debacle that was the ABs RWC hopes last year. The dreams (and trips of lifetimes) for many New Zealanders were shattered that day.
Not since the SA RWC have we delivered, and we last that day!
"Judge me on my results of the World Cup", he said!

i think Henry is very good but Deans is the better coach right now.

Henry has run out of tricks, he hasnt got mucht time left. Deans should be very good in the next 3-4 years at international especialy if the ELVs are kept.

I think Henry will step down and hand over to Hansen and Smith at the end of 2009.
