The Emirates Western Force have named an unchanged line-up to attack the Sharks in Durban this Saturday with the side eager to finish their South African tour with a win.
Emirates Western Force forwards coach Nick Stiles said the team had put the disappointment of the four point loss to the Cheetahs behind them and will concentrate on getting a good start on the Sharks.
“It’s been a focus for us over the last few weeks to start the game well against the South African sides because if you give them too much of a lead at the start of the game, it is difficult to close the gap,” said Stiles.
“It’s good to have the same 22 and have that continuity with our game plan and we’re starting to see some growth through our backs so we’ll definitely look to attack a lot more than last week.
“We’d love to see (Napolioni) Nalaga getting the ball a lot more than he is, but sometimes it’s a bit more difficult than what we’d like.
“Last week there were a few chances to get the ball to him early but a player or two inside just put up a different option, so hopefully we can get the ball to him more and bring him into the game.”
Matt Hodgson recovered from a concussion sustained in the dying minutes of the game against the Cheetahs and will retain his No. 8 position alongside fellow Australian internationals David Pocock and Richard Brown.
“Hodgson has pulled up really well. He has been step-loaded back into his training and each day he’s done more and more and he’ll train fully today and be a definite starter.
While the side looks to make a greater impact in the attack Stiles said they were prepared for a strong showing from the Shark’s forward pack.
“Their scrum is very strong; I think it’s the strongest South African scrum so upfront they’re very physical,”
“They’re very abrasive with their tackling and the work they do at the breakdown so it’s a really good challenge for us with their physicality,” Stiles said.

unchanged side---changed result we hope
Force for the win!! Two tries for Naps, two tries for the Honey Badger and one for Wara to make up for last week. Plus another storming performance from every single one of the piggies. Simples![]()
The question i put out is is Nalaga going to find the ball ?? If not and as seen in the past 9 games he wont touch the ball twice....
I know this is going to sound stupid / daft / like a twat... but we might as well have RG as coach till years end, it was fantastic to hear Phil Blake (in my eyes being head assistant coach) till they find a suitable replacement, come out in the press and say "im going to put my touch on the Force playing group, choose my players, coach the way i want to coach and show the management team that im a suitable pick for years to come, and this time next year we will be fighting for finals football - if given the opportunity" What an absolute load of BOLLOCKS !! I know its early days (only 2nd week into it) but same team as the previous weeks, and if its anything like the cheetahs game, same plan as RG - sh1t house... where's your talk PB, wheres your plan, wheres your player choices ?? or am I seeing the states WA Code again "waiting a while" for something to happen in the coaches meeting / selection night....
Still never the less... CARN THE FORCE, spill some blood in the Shark Tank and bring home the shark for the bbq.
Settle Benny. Breath. Slowly. All this negative energy is interfering with the good chakra that surrounds you.
Yup, Gerry sounds like Oddball out of Kellys Heroes:
"Oddball: Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?
Moriarty: Crap
Oddball: Always with the negative waves Moriarty, always with the negative waves!"
"We will win, We will win OOOOOOMMMH" now repeat ad infinitum
May the FORCE be with you!
letting off some steam last night after dealing with TWATS all day... apologises to the TWF family as 1, as we are 1 with the FORCE and we will smoke the sharks in the 'play pen' and come away with da 4 points..
This is the first time in Force history an unchanged 22 has been named.
They did load a few extra young playes I hardly recognise for the flight. But certainly Kyle Godwin and Jake Ball were among them. Gives the young ones some good touring experience.
