Message from Tommy Fearn:
Hi Hansie and all the crew, I fly out this evening for the ‘land of the rising sun’ and would like to wish everyone all the best for the rest of the season and events that I will sorely miss (especially those lunches)It is regretful as the clubrooms are looking a ‘ million dollars’ and I am sure there will be some fantastic days and nights that I will also miss.On the positive side the role in Japan is something that I couldn’t resist and is an opportunity to continue to coach in a professional environment which has it’s challenges but exciting opportunities.I would like to thank all for their support in assisting the coaches and players to strive for success in an environment that is second to none. So once again thanks for everything and I will not be too far away as I can be contacted via email and mobile.
Cheers all and ‘Go Neddies’
TF

I heard that Rumour Mungor was going as his assistant????
But congratulations to Tom Fearn all the same.

We shall miss him....WA Rugby wil miss him.... hopefully, when he returns our directors of RugbyWA will give serious consideration to bringing a valuable West Australian homegrown coach into the Force.
All the best Tom, been a big part of the Force to date
Is he Head Coach or an Assistant??
80 Minutes, 15 Positions, No Protection, Wanna Ruck?
Ruck Me, Maul Me, Make Me Scrum!
Education is Important, but Rugby is Importanter!
Japan at this time of the year would be very pleasant however the winters are not my cuppa tea.
Besides which I couldn't rely on any of you buggers to keep Hansie honest!
This post alone is a typical Hansie effort to keep Nedlands name up there in lights.
The real story here is that another Nedlands man has jumped ship.
Word on the street is that the great man himself is positioning himself to exit stage left this season.
Ah there he is. A day later than normal![]()
Just a note in response to Tom Fearn being a 'homegrown' WA coach (if that was the inference) - he is actually a Kiwi with an extremely impressive and experienced record in NZ as a player - I guess if he has done most of his coaching in WA, then you could say 'home grown'...
I think WA is extremely lacking in homegrown coaches - looking at most of those in Community rugby that have an idea, they're generally Poms, Saffas, Kiwis, even some Eastern States...not a surprise for an AFL state.
It is always great to see WA players come through though...I think there's more potential for WA to make a name for itself regarding rugby through the players.
...he was an All Black triallist though.
Just like every other cussie bro currently playing here in Perth.

Tom is from Wanganui if my memory serves me correct and had more coaching success with Wests than Nedlands.
But heh, why let the facts get in the way of a good story?
Nothing "homegrown" about Tom. Just another kiwi travelling the world using rugby as a passport.
Very good fullback in his day in NZ
Good Luck Tom, go well
Tom came to WA in 1988 having represented Whanganui in New Zealand's National Provincial Championship over five seasons. He won six premierships as a player, and two as a coach, with Nedlands and also represented WA over eight years. He coached the State team in 2001 and later coached Wests Subiaco to three consecutive premierships before becoming an inaugural member of the Emirates Western Force coaching team.
Rugby Playing skills honed in N.Z.
Rugby Coaching skills honed in WA.
In my book equals homegrown coach in WA. Lived here for 24 years.
Don't you know that you can only call yourself local when your grandparents are in the town cemetry?
