Used to do this on another forum a while back.
Pretty simple rule:
1-2 sentences from a song, whoever guesses it correctly without googling it puts up the next challenge.
So if I went:
Stumblin' all the way, it's not such a beautiful day.
Someone would come back with:
Stumblin' - Powderfinger.
And then in the same post the next round.
Which is:
I wonder should I go or should I stay. The band only had one more song to play
Let the game begin!!!
Edit: any artist who covered the song is a correct answer.

Englebert Humperdink- the last waltz - got to love any Englebert
Okay - something more lively and with a twisted festive touch from our Celtic brethren.
"And the boys from the NYPD choir were singing Galway Bay
And the bells were ringing out for christmas day"
Fairytale of New York - The Pogues (and Kirsty McCall)
"That's one for you, nineteen for me"
Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
Taxman - The Beatles?
I am too scared to goole it to check, so will wait for confirmation before posting my challenge, which will be
I can't believe that there's no one there
Is this a private number love affair?
Yep, it was Taxman, written about the 95% tax rate! I've no idea what yours is, though!
Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
Cool, then:
I can't believe that there's no one there
Is this a private number love affair?
Might be a bit obscure for those not listening to music in the '80's
Wow, googled it and got the answer, but had no idea.
Then got it up on You Tube and i can confirm that, whilst a child of the 80's I have never heard this song until 30 seconds ago - I also consider my self lucky up until 45 seconds ago!
That's because it's a 70's song, Ecky is older than he realises!!
I recognised the song after Googling, but didn't know it from the lyrics.
Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
Well I bought the single, on 45, in the early '80's in Perth. I reckon 1982 or 1983.
Maybe I shall concede it is too obscure (5705 by City Boy for those interested) and go for the following:
The sun is setting like molasses in the sky
Another just sprang to mind
This is the entire lyric
Under the Southern Cross I Stand
A sprig of wattle in my hand
A native of my native land
Australia you $%^#ing beauty
